Opel has announced pricing in Germany for Mokka and Insignia models equipped with the new generation of CDTI diesel engines.

The Mokka crossover equipped with the new 1.6 CDTI with 136PS (134hp) engine starts from €24,685 ($27,985), while the Opel Insignia sedan equipped with the new 2.0 CDTI with 170PS (168hp) new diesel is priced from €29,895 ($33,890) – both prices are for the German market and include VAT.

The 1.6-liter unit available on the Opel Mokka replaces the 1.7 CDTI, offering 6hp and 20Nm more from a smaller displacement, as well as significantly lower fuel consumption. With 136PS (134hp) and 320Nm (236lb-ft) of torque, the engine allows the Mokka to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds and to reach a top speed of 191 km/h (119 mph).

With the standard six-speed manual gearbox, the model averages 4.1 l/100 km (57.3 mpg US), with CO2 emissions of 109 g/km. That’s an improvement of almost 0.5 l/100 km and 11 g/km than the previous 1.7-liter engine.

The front-wheel drive Mokka with the new 1.6 CDTI engine is available with either a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic gearbox. Four-wheel drive models are only offered with the manual transmission.

The 2.0-liter unit available on the Insignia produces 170PS (168hp) at 3,750 rpm and 400Nm (295lb-ft) of torque from 1,750 to 2,500 rpm. That’s around 4 percent more power and 14 percent more torque than its predecessor, while fuel consumption remains the same.

With the new engine, the Insignia reaches a maximum speed of 225 km/h (140 mph), an increase of 5 km/h (3 mph). The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds, almost half a second quicker than its predecessor.

The Insignia sedan and Sports Tourer with the new 2.0 CDTI engine are available with a six-speed manual gearbox, in both front- or four-wheel drive versions.
