Car enthusiasts often join various clubs and get out for a drive en masse, having a little fun and talking about, well, mostly cars at various stops. Well, OK, maybe there aren’t many Camry clubs around but Porsche ones are far more exciting anyway.

Sadly, accidents are always a possibility, whether you’re alone or in a convoy. In fact, the latter probably increases the chances of a pile-up if the drivers following carried away and don’t keep their distance or, simply, they run out of space.

That’s what happened on a Rennlist Porsche drive last Saturday, January 3. A RUF Turbo R, i.e. a 993 Turbo with a power increase from the standard 400 to 490hp, crashed into a GMC Sierra.

The Turbo R was, naturally, more damaged than the full-size pickup truck. What’s worse, though, is that the 997.2 that was right behind crashed on the driver’s side of the RUF. Thankfully, no one was injured and the rest of the Porsches following managed to stop and avoid another crash. Surely not the nicest way to start the New Year though…
