Following the first official images released last month, SsangYong has offered more information about the Tivoli small SUV ahead of its international launch at the Geneva Auto Show in March.

The first model to be launched following SsangYong’s acquisition by India’s Mahindra & Mahindra, the Tivoli is a B-segment crossover that will arrive in the UK and other European markets this summer to compete with similar models like the Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008.

The model will be offered with two 1.6-liter engines, a petrol and a diesel. At first, it will be available only as a front-wheel drive model with a newly developed e-XGi160 petrol engine that delivers up to 126PS (124hp) and 157Nm (116lb-ft) of torque. The unit can be had either with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox or an optional Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission. The Korean-spec model with this engine and manual transmission returns 12.3 km/l (8.1 l/100 km or 28.9 mpg US) over the combined cycle. No details have been offered yet about the 1.6-liter diesel engine that will arrive later on in Europe along with an all-wheel drive version.

The Tivoli offers luggage space of up to 423 liters (14.9 cu-ft), enough to carry three full size golf club bags, according to SsangYong – not that this sort of car is a favorite among golf players. Furthermore, the second row of seats can also be folded fully flat for further carrying capacity.

In terms of equipment, the Tivoli sold in Korea is fitted as standard with the Smart Steer electronic power steering system which offers three different steering modes (Normal, Comfort and Sport), an infotainment system with a 7-inch touch screen, an automatic air conditioning system, smart key entry and locking facility, as well as parking sensors.

Safety features include seven airbags, ESP and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Optional extras include a sunroof, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlight activation, and ECM interior rear view mirror.

More details and specifications of the SsangYong Tivoli for the European market will be announced closer to its launch at the Geneva Auto Show.
