The all-new Outback can now be ordered in the UK, where it’s officially listed with a starting on-the-road price of £27,995. Subaru is keen to point out in its press blurb that the Outback was “the first ever crossover spawning a whole range of copy cat models ever since,” this time promising more a more upmarket feel and more tech.

Two engines and two transmissions are on offer. Both are four-pot boxer units, but one is a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol with 162 hp, while the other is a 2.0-liter diesel with 148 hp.

The oil burner can be had with both gearbox options (either the six-speed manual or CVT), while the petrol can only be specced with the latter.

Standard equipment is, as Subaru says, generous, and the base SE trim includes everything you’d ever need, heated seats, powered driver’s seat, torque vectoring, 17-inch alloys or touchscreen infotainment.

Opt for SE Premium and you gain sunroof, push-button start, larger 18-inch alloys, full-leather seats and a powered rear tailgate.

The most you can pay for an Outback is £32,995 for an SE Premium diesel car with the CVT.
