English singer and songwriter Robbie Williams is playing the role of VW’s new marketing manager in a series of commercials that promote the new “Club & Lounge” special models for the German market.

The singer is the key protagonist in a multi-channel advertising campaign for the new “Club & Lounge” special models which he unveiled at a press conference broadcast simultaneously by almost all TV stations and numerous online portals and social media channels from Germany.

There are nine “Club & Lounge” models to choose from, including the Up!, Golf, Beetle and Tiguan. Advance sales started on December 18, with the special models arriving in showrooms from January 2015.

“Marketing manager at Volkswagen – how good does that sound? For me, it’s a big change. It’s stepping out of the world of pop into a proper job,” Robbie Williams described his new assignment at Volkswagen.

The campaign is also VW’s first to include a cooperation with Spotify, with Volkswagen customers and the interested public having exclusive access to the “Say it with a Playlist” function.

This service generates an individual playlist based on personal messages which the user can send either by Facebook or by e-mail. In addition, there are preconfigured playlists for each “Club & Lounge” special model.
