Ford has announced final output and fuel economy specs of the 2015 Ford Edge Sport, which is the most powerful Edge ever, thanks to its EcoBoost V6 engine rated at 315hp.

Going on sale this spring, the range-topping Edge model starts at $38,100 (excluding destination charges), $500 more than the previous generation 2014 model. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine has been SAE-certified at 315hp and 350lb-ft (474Nm) of torque, available from 2,750 rpm. That’s 10 percent more power and 25 percent more torque than the previous 3.7-liter V6 engine, which generated peak torque at 4,000 rpm.

The 2015 Ford Edge Sport with front-wheel drive has been EPA-rated at 18 mpg city, 27 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined, with the AWD model returning 17 mpg city, 24 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined. These fuel economy estimates are either equal to or better than the 2014 model Edge Sport.

Besides the 315hp engine, the Edge Sport also gets exterior and interior design enhancements, as well as a sport-tuned suspension that features 15 percent stiffer front and rear antiroll bars compared to the standard model. The rear dampers are larger in diameter, while coil springs are 10 percent stiffer and offer 20 percent less body roll than the previous-generation setup.

Ford has also released EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings for the other two engines offered in the 2015 Edge, the standard 245hp 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder and the optional 280hp 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6. The four-cylinder returns 20 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 24 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined with all-wheel drive.

The V6 returns 18 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and 21 mpg combined with front-wheel drive and 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway and 20 mpg combined with all-wheel drive.
