We’ve seen the new 2016 Maxima’s exterior twice, once during Nissan’s Super Bowl ad and then through official images, but this is our first ever look at the interior.

Nabbed while the car was in transport, the pictures reveal the dashboard that has a similar styling to the 2015 Murano with some notable differences such as the flat-bottom sports steering wheel and the lower center console that’s angled towards the driver for a sportier, more enveloping feeling. This edition was also fitted with bucket sports seats.

A couple of other things we noticed include the new infotainment system with a large screen that’s apparently controlled via a BMW i-Drive-like rotary dial and buttons positioned right behind the automatic transmission lever, and the large digital display between the two instrument panel dials. Overall, the cabin appears to feel more upmarket than you might expect from a car in this category.

Nissan hasn’t slipped out any other details about the Maxima, but a V6 is surely to be offered.

The new generation of the Maxima will touch down at the 2015 New York Auto Show in April before going on sale during the second half of the year.
