This is the all-new VW Touran MPV, which will debut next week at the Geneva Motor Show. These are the first photos of the new model and they appear as official as can be.

Based on VW’s MQB architecture, the third-generation Touran is 130mm longer with a 113mm longer wheelbase, which means practicality stands to gain. As a consequence, boot volume increases by 48 liters to 1,040 liters, although the maximum total volume in the seven-seater version shrinks from 1,913 to 1,857 liters.

Despite the bigger footprint, the Touran is up to 62 kg lighter, thanks to the new modular platform. It is also more economical, by up to 19 percent. At launch, the VW Touran will be available with three petrol and three diesel engines. The petrol units include a 1.2-liter TSI with 110PS, a 1.4-liter TSI with 150PS and a 1.8-liter TSI with 180PS.

The diesel lineup consists of a 1.6-liter TDI with 110PS and a 2.0-liter TDI offered in two states of tune: 150PS and 190PS. The base diesel engine is the most economical, averaging 4.1 l/100 km with the 7-speed DSG. Stay tuned for more as we expect VW to release official details soon.
