From plastic body armour to swirly wraps, Mercedes has tried its best to keep the new S-Class Convertible fully concealed from prying eyes, but not anymore. This latest tester has dropped most of its camo leaving only the rear bottom half hidden under tape.

The replacement of the metal roof with a foldable cloth top hasn’t spoiled the S-Class Coupe’s sleek profile and angular rear end, and we imagine it will look even better with the hood down.

The Convertible will retain the Coupe’s high-quality cabin for four passengers adding some cool (or rather…warm) features like Mercedes’ AIRSCARF neck-level heating system along with the usual structural and safety enhancements found in the firm’s open top models.

Everything else available in the S-Class Coupe will be maintained, from the Magic Body Control system that scans the road ahead and adjusts the suspension to the V8 and V12 turbocharged engine line-up, possibly including the 577hp (585PS) S63 and 621hp (630PS) S65 AMGs.

The new S-Class Convertible will launch later this year.
