According to a report from last week, GM is serious about the Bolt EV, with production said to begin in late 2016 at the Orion plant near Detroit. And in a similar way to the Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera pair, the Bolt will likely have an Opel-branded sibling as well.

Photoshop artist Remco Meulendijk tried to imagine what the Bolt’s Opel version would look like and this is what he came up. He applied traditional Opel styling cues on the Bolt EV’s bodywork, while retaining the latter’s proportions. The result looks interesting, to say the least, and quite plausible.

The designer called it the Opel Trixx, a name that was used in 2004 by the German automaker for a city car concept. However, the two studies don’t seem to have too much in common. Besides, the name Opel will use for its version of the Bolt is still unknown.
