Day-one Gran Turismo fans are in for a treat. After more than a 10-year hiatus since Gran Turismo 4 was released in 2004, the Midfield Raceway original circuit returns to Gran Turismo 6.

According to Polyphony, the track will be available in the next GT6 1.16 free update. The track will feature completely overhauled high-definition rendering as well as full time-change and weather change ability.

For those new to the Midfield Raceway, it was first introduced in Gran Turismo 2 as Polyphony’s interpretation of a figure-8 track similar to Suzuka that is closer to Tsukuba in size. The classic Midfield Raceway has always been one of the most popular fantasy tracks of the series and one of the most highly requested circuits for a return, only behind the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb course that was last seen in Gran Turismo 2.

Not only will the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 update 1.16 feature the return of an old favorite track, but according to leaked screenshots, the B-Spec race mode will also make a return in the upcoming GT6 update. B-Spec, which was an important feature in both Gran Turismo 4 and Gran Turismo 6, allows a player to hire and train an AI driver to compete in career mode racing events. This feature is particularly useful in longer endurance racing competitions that may ask for excessive concentration and time commitment than a player is otherwise prepared to give.

Last but not least, Polyphony Digital will allow paint customization options for the new Mazda LM55 Vision GT and Chaparral 2X Vision GT concept cars.

There is no specific release date available for the upcoming Gran Turismo 6 update 1.16.
