Not long after Jaguar confirmed the F-Pace name for their upcoming crossover, our spies nabbed a tester wearing production clothing. From the pictures, it’s as clear as a paparazzo’s flashbulb that the C-X17 Concept’s styling will remain untouched.

And we’re not talking about a loose design relation of the Nissan Sports Concept and 2016 Maxima-sort, but a 95 percent likeness, as you can see for yourself in the gallery below where we’ve posted our spy shots next to images of the study.

That applies for the exterior, because even though we haven’t been able yet to get a glimpse of the interior, the C-X17 Concept’s cabin was too futuristic for production. Expect something a little bit closer in design to that of the Jaguar XE sedan.

The F-Pace will ride on Jaguar’s new modular aluminum architecture, which underpins both the current XE and the next-generation XF that’s under development. It should retain the same or very similar exterior dimensions to the study at 4,718mm (185.7 inches) long, 1,649mm (64.9 inches) tall and 1,959mm (77.1 inches) wide.

Jaguar is expected to offer both RWD and AWD versions of the F-Pace that will be powered by the firm’s newest Ingenium four-cylinder gasoline and petrol units, with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 sitting at the top of the range.

Speaking at the Detroit show last month, Jaguar design boss Ian Ian Callum, said:

“We received such an overwhelmingly positive response to the C-X17 concept car last year that we just had to make it a reality. The Jaguar F-PACE, inspired by the F-TYPE, represents a perfectly judged balance of performance, style and practicality. It offers a unique combination of Jaguar sports car inspired exterior design, fused beautifully with a thoroughly practical and spacious luxury interior. The F-PACE is our family sports car.”

At the same event, Jaguar also confirmed that the F-Pace will go on sale worldwide in 2016.
