A TransAsia airplane crashed into a river in Taiwan’s capital Taipei on Wednesday morning shortly after takeoff, killing at least 23 people and injuring 15 others.
The ATR-72 aircraft carried 58 people onboard including five crew members, but 20 of them are still unaccounted for, reported the NY Times. The cause of the crash appears to be an engine problem, which was communicated by one of the pilots to air traffic control shortly before the disaster happened.
The accident was captured by dash cams from cars that were in the area at the time of the crash, with one of the videos showing how the plane’s left wing clips a taxi that was rolling on a bridge, before diving into the river.
The cab driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital with injuries.
