This video was put together by the Alpine Team, celebrating the release of their new vehicle for the Gran Turismo 6 console game, and we get the feeling they had a lot of fun working on it.

Visually, they clearly let their imagination take the reigns and obviously looked at the spirit of the Alpine brand as well as driving experience, animations and pure racing heritage.

Alpine artistic director Emilie Gruson said that “The Alpine Vision Gran Turismo film is a real expressive exercise. We wanted to get back to our world and our values: agility, the mountains, competition and elegance. We wanted to take an alternative approach, full of surprise and emotion.”

We do love the transition to a sort of Speed Racer-ish manga feel, which is exactly what director Fabrice Coton revealed he used as his inspiration, saying that he “Grew up with comic strips, traditional cartoons and manga. Blending these techniques brings surprising results.”

There’s also the transition to a panting sketch which “fully expresses the speed and the movements of the camera” according to Coton. We enjoyed that too!

However, our favorite part is probably at the very end with the car stationary and the driver holding his helmet in his arms as the image goes from real world to animation and back in the blink of an eye.
