BMW of North America has unveiled a special livery for the two BMW Team RLL Z4 GTLM cars that will race at this year’s 12 Hours of Sebring on March 21.

Revealed at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, the new livery pays homage to the IMSA 3.0 CSL that won the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1975 in the hands of Brian Redman, Sam Posey and Hans Stuck, who were reunited on Amelia Island 40 years after their great success.

To honor that success, the two BMW Z4 GTLMs of BMW Team RLL will sport special designs on the “Sebring International Raceway”. Car number 25 will carry the colors of the winning BMW 3.0 CSL of 1975.

Jochen Neerpasch, the first managing director of BMW Motorsport GmbH, and BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt were also present at Amelia Island and saw current BMW Team RLL driver Bill Auberlen (US) complete the first presentation laps in the BMW Z4 GTLM with the anniversary design.

The 40th anniversary of that race win has two more meanings for BMW in North America. It was also the year when BMW set up a national sales company in the United States and BMW Motorsport arrived stateside.
