Cadillac has just released the performance specs for its new and very potent ATS-V sedan and coupe. On paper it’s just as brisk as the BMW M3 and M4 equivalents, but how do the two compare on the track?

Well, for that we need neither drive the cars nor do we need separate reviews. What we’ll be using is onboard videos with telemetry data of the cars being run around the Circuit of the Americas.

We don’t exactly know which version of the ATS-V was being driven in the first of the videos (it could have been the four-door), but the only COTA BMW drive videos with graphics featured either the old E90/cE92 or the new M4.

Thus we have one video of the ATS-V and one of the M4 posted after the virtual jump. This way we can gauge acceleration, grip, braking and top speeds and theoretically see which is faster.

This is obviously not a scientific test in any way, because of different drivers and conditions; it’s just something to try to have a more clear reference point when mentioning the two cars in the same company.
