The twin-engined Tesla Model S P85D is a super desirable green-luxury model right now. But how did it get so fast and what has it got that the regular car doesn’t? CNET answers these questions concisely and with the usual focus on tech and gadgets.
Obviously, the big talking point is the near-700 hp combined power output of the two motors, as well as the performance numbers they serve up. Sixty comes up in 3.2 seconds, and off the line for the first few yards, the car is actually faster than a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta.
It’s by no means the latest word in driver engagement, but as a collection of numbers wrapped in a sedan body (with a liftback) it’s not bad. People buy Audis more for their image and straight line performance, so this appeals in the same way, but to a different audience.
