Modern convertibles are designed to cocoon their open cockpit in a blanket of air as speed builds, and thus it should be possible to drive with the roof down and not get totally wet in the process. The Slow Mo Guys wanted to try this out and they used a BMW 2-Series convertible, some fake rain and a bit of an acceleration run.

The slow motion footage is pretty spectacular, since you actually get to see the water get corralled around what looks like a ghost roof. In fact, the shape or pattern in which the water is sent really does look like a roof.

And the verdict? Well, you can drive in the rain and not get wet, but your really have to maintain a constant speed (not necessarily go as fast as in the video, though).
