Along with the updated i30, Hyundai presented the new three-door version of its sub-compact i20 hatchback.

In an effort to build a more sportive image, Hyundai called it the i20 Coupe but truth to be told, we are not getting convinced here despite the lowered roofline by 25mm from its five door sibling.

The engine range has two petrol and two diesel engines: 1.2-litre petrol with 84ps, 1.4-litre petrol with 100ps, 1.1-litre diesel with 75ps and 1.4-litre diesel with 90ps.

If Hyundai wants a more sportive image then we suggest to place its new turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine under the i20’s bonnet asap.

Hyundai also displayed its WRC contender next to it, which is always a welcome sight.
