This is what happens when you don’t slow down enough before a corner. Luckily for this driver, the “kitty litter box” was there to keep him from ending up in the wall.

This near-crash happened at the Circuit Park Zandvoort in the Netherlands, and even though there’s been plenty of speculation as to what exactly happened, we don’t really know all the facts.

All we see is the Huracan approaching the corner and hitting the brakes – however it’s impossible to tell if he applied enough pressure or actually lifted off thinking he could make the turn at his current speed and positioning.

Then again the brakes may have been worn out and/or the driver simply didn’t manage to keep the car in check, since from the outside it looks like a completely avoidable incident, even if you do carry a little too much speed into the corner.

Some have suggested understeer but in reality there’s no plausible reason to suspect it had anything to do with that.

It just seems that at one point the driver decided to forget everything he knew about racing, especially since he was way off the racing line in the first place.

So we’ll just go with ‘missed racing line, ended up too wide, hit the brakes too late’ and the rest is history.
