Mitsubishi Pulls The Wraps Off All-New L200 For Europe

After almost a decade in the European market, Mitsubishi presented an all-new replacement for its L200 pickup truck at the Geneva Motor Show.

The fifth generation L200 is the European specification version of the Mitsubishi Triton that was launched in Thailand in November last year and it promises to bring all-around improvements, especially inside, while retaining its “functionality and reliability as a work vehicle”, according to the manufacturer.

It has the typical inoffensive exterior design of Japanese trucks adding new front and rear end designs to the previous model’s swoopy profile, while inside, it has a passenger car-like dashboard with Mitsubishi claiming that it offers higher-quality materials and more space than before.

It comes fitted with seven SRS airbags while also offering active safety features such as Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

The L200 uses the same Super Select 4WD-II drivetrain as the Shogun SUV with a choice of four modes, including 2WD and three 4WD modes.

Power for the European model is provided by a new 2.4-liter turbocharged MIVEC inline-four diesel, available in two states of tune, with 154PS (152hp) and 380Nm (280lb-ft), and 181PS (178hp) and 430Nm (317lb-ft) of torque respectively.

Two transmissions will be available, including a new 6-speed manual and a 5-speed automatic with Sport Mode and paddle shifting.

European sales are expected to start this summer.
