For anyone not in the know, the Yamaha R1 is one helluva fast sports bike, so it would take a very special car to beat it on the road.
While this first generation VW Golf looks fairly normal sans the bigger wheels, the truth couldn’t be any more different; it has a highly-modified 2.0-liter turbocharged engine pushing out a mind-numbing 1,056PS (1,042hp) and 1,001Nm (738 lb-ft) of peak torque!
And if that’s not enough, it was also fitted with a VW-sourced 4MOTION all-wheel drive system paired to a special six-speed manual gearbox.
