Suzuki brought two new concept cars to the Geneva Motor Show, a mini 4×4 called i-M4 and a compact hatchback called i-K2.

Both look production-ready to us, with Suzuki confirming the i-K2 previews a production model that will arrive next year.

The i-M4 Concept is the company’s vision for a new compact and fuel-efficient 4×4 model. Suzuki says the study is based on a new-generation platform and features an SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) mild hybrid system consisting of an ISG (integrated starter generator) and a 1.2-liter Dualjet petrol engine.

The hybrid system also includes lithium-ion batteries. Suzuki promises “excellent fuel consumption with low CO2 emissions,” but doesn’t elaborate on that. The i-M4 is only 3,693mm long, 1,709mm wide and 1,566mm tall, with a 2,438 mm wheelbase.

The second study on display in Geneva is the i-K2, which previews a compact hatchback scheduled to launch in Europe in 2016. Also based on the new-generation modular platform, the i-K2 comes equipped with the Boosterjet engine, which is Suzuki’s commercial name for a new direct-injection turbo petrol unit.

The production model will also be available with the SHVS mild hybrid system. The study is 4,023mm long, 1,920mm wide and 1,450mm tall, with a 2,520mm wheelbase.
