Based on the Passat Estate, the new AWD Passat Alltrack made its debut in Geneva, offering an even more practical solution to those who dislike SUVs.

Given that no one is expecting from the Passat Alltrack to go off-road as far as a proper SUV, Volkswagen says that it “confidently handles rough terrain, on the one hand, while simultaneously providing excellent cruising comfort”.

The Passat Alltrack features different bumpers with underbody guards, rugged wheel arches and side sills to match its higher ground clearance by 27.5mm compared to the standard Passat Estate. With its 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive assisted by electronic aids such as EDS (electronic differential lock) and XDS+, the Passat Alltrack is capable of towing up to 2.200kg (braked).

The wide engine range comprises five direct-fuel injection engines: two petrols (1.4TSI 150PS and 2.0TSI-220PS) and a 2-litre TDI engine with three outputs, 150, 190 and 240PS.

VW also offers a wide range of infotainment systems, allowing a “maximum degree of connectivity” via App Connect which uses Mirror Link, Apple’s Car Play and Google’s Android Auto to permit full integration of nearly every smartphone out there.
