VW wants to bring more buyers for the battery-powered e-Golf into its US showrooms with a new trim line priced almost $2,000 less than the SEL at $33,450.

Some consumers may also be eligible for a $7,500 Federal Tax Credit, which would drop the price to $25,950, excluding handling and delivery.

The new base model is named the e-Golf Limited Edition. Compared to the SEL Premium, it replaces the alloy wheels with 16-inch steel wheels, the LED headlights with halogen units, the leatherette seating surfaces with cloth, while also deleting  the heat-pump system.

It keeps the same 115hp and 199 pound feet torque electric motor, as well as the LED Daytime Running Lights, navigation system, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights and wipers, rearview camera, Park Distance Control, and keyless access.

All e-Golfs get VW’s DC Fast Charging with the Combined Charging System (CCS) that allows up to 80 percent battery charge in 30 minutes.
