You don’t need us to tell you than Nissan is one of the most daring manufacturers when it comes to motorsport. After the crazy Deltawing racer, the Japanese company took another insane idea into fruition by presenting the GT-R LM Nismo racer to compete in the 24 Hours of LeMans.

The Japanese LMP1 endurance racer was designed with an innovative approach, to say the least, having the engine at the front sending the power also to the front axle. The 3.0-litre twin turbo V6 engine is working along with a kinetic energy recovery system to send 1,250hp to the front wheels through a five-speed sequential gearbox.

With the minimum weight set to 880kg, the GT-R LM Nismo is going to battle the Audi R18 e-tron, the Porsche 919 Hybrid and the Toyota TS040 Hybrid for the crown in the 24H of LeMans, with Nissan eager to score its first win in the historic event.

We are certainly not used to such innovative approaches as Nissan’s, but we like it a lot. Certainly even more, after watching this short on-board driving footage during night on a race track. Come on the rest of you automakers; bring more crazy ideas into racing!
