A Honda S2000 in a matchbox form? Not exactly, but we can understand the interest in Honda’s new S660 Lilliputian roadster that was filmed here during a test drive in Japan. According to local media, the S660s press cars were pre-production models.

The S660 will soon go on sale in Japan offering a 660cc (0.66-liter) three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine delivering 64PS (63hp) at 6,000 rpm paired to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT gearbox, placed right behind the two-seater cabin and driving the rear-wheels.

It only weighs around 800 kg or about 1,764 lbs, so while the engine won’t light up the rear tires, it could prove playful enough if you understand and accept the concept.

It would be interesting to see if those rumors about an international model named S1000 with a 1.0-liter turbocharged engine and 100 or more horses with a slightly wider body and tracks turn out to be true.

We’d appreciate it if any of our Japanese readers can sum up the presentation in English below!
