2016 Infiniti QX50 Not Only Facelifted But Also Elongated With Longer Wheelbase

We first saw it in China, which adores LWB versions, and now, it’s coming to the USA and the New York Auto Show: the facelifted 2016 Infiniti QX50 riding on a longer wheelbase.

Since it’s the most significant change on the updated luxury crossover, we’ll start with the wheelbase that is now 3.2 inches longer (113.4 inches versus previous 110.2 inches) with the overall length increased 4.5 inches (186.8 inches versus previous 182.3 inches).

According to Infiniti, this results in an 8.3 cubic feet increase of interior volume (115.4 cubic feet total volume vs. the previous 107.1 cubic feet), with most of that extra space benefiting the rear passengers with an additional 4.3 inches in legroom and 3.9-inches in knee room.

Furthermore, the Japanese carmaker increased ground clearance by 0.4 inches to 6.4 inches on rear-wheel drive models and 0.8 inches to 6.5 inches on all-wheel drive versions.

Infiniti also revised the exterior styling of the QX50 (previously known as the EX) bringing it closer to the rest of the range. Changes include a new front bumper that incorporates LED Daytime Running Lights, the brand’s new signature pinched grille, tweaked lights on both ends, new side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, revised side sills, a new rear bumper and the availability of fresh 19-inch rims on the Deluxe Touring Package.

Interior styling remains the same with Infiniti simply adding new content, including a standard moonroof and heated seats for all grade levels.

The same applies for the single engine offering, Infiniti’s VQ37VHR 3.7-liter V6 engine rated at 325 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque that’s matched to a standard 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode, DS mode with Downshift Rev Matching (DRM) and Adaptive Shift Control.
