You may have heard that the Ferrari FXX K won the Red Dot Best of the Best Award as the best automotive design of 2015. Now Ferrari has released a video which shows how its designers arrived at those lines.

Designed and built specifically for the track, the Ferrari FXX K has a functional design, with its every line being designed to enhance performance. A product of Ferrari’s aerodynamicists, the FXX K features radically modified bodywork panels compared to the LaFerrari in order to generate extra downforce.

However, aesthetics were not disregarded. For example, flaps are mounted on top of vertical rear fins that recall the tails of fighter planes. Integrated into the tops of the rear wings, the flaps reinforce the dynamic arrow-shape side profile.

Other striking details are the horizontal LED stripes that replace conventional headlight, as well as the aggressive racing livery.
