Remember Force India? They’re somehow always being overlooked whenever one tends to think about competitive Formula 1 teams.

The truth is, Force India have been competitive for years and their 2015 Mercedes power unit will definitely come in handy while they try getting everything to work properly on their cars from an aerodynamics perspective.

That being said, drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez expect to be able to challenge the cars around them on Sunday, but they also realize that just like in Sepang, the Shanghai track has a mix of low, medium and high-speed corners which will put a “big emphasis on aero performance”.

Perez was recently quoted as saying that “The long back straight is also interesting because you get a lot of drag races. It’s where horsepower and top speed are important,” which will definitely work to the advantage of Mercedes-powered cars.

As for team principal Vijay Mallya, he says he’s happy with the reliability of their 2015 racer, but knows the team has to improve in the next couple of races in order to make up for the fact that the VJM08 wasn’t ready in time for winter testing.

We’re rooting for them to have a good race and a good season overall. Plus, they do have one of the best looking cars on the grid this year, so it’s hard to root against them.
