Jaguar USA Announces Specs for 2016 XE, 180HP Diesel Confirmed

Jaguar has released new details about the North American-spec 2016 XE sedan, which arrives in US and Canadian dealerships in spring 2016.

The 2016 Jaguar XE will be available with two engine options, the 20d and 35t, each offered in Premium, Prestige and R-Sport trim levels and available in RWD or AWD.

As you probably know, the Jaguar XE 35t gets a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 engine under the hood, which produces 340hp at 6,500 rpm and 332lb-ft (450Nm) of torque at 4,500 rpm.

Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift controls, the engine allows the XE 35t to sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.9 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Jaguar has now released information about the second engine available for the XE, the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium diesel which produces 180hp at 4,000 rpm and 318lb-ft (430Nm) of torque between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm. Offered with the same ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the XE 20d will be the brand’s most fuel efficient model offered in North America. EPA figures will be released at later date.

In terms of performance, the 2016 Jaguar XE 20d sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h). Pricing and fuel economy figures will be announced closer to launch.
