The Just Cause open world havoc-wreaking game series was always highly spectacular and fun, but the two installments we’ve seen so far fell way short of actually being fully flushed out and all-round good games. Hopefully, all previous criticism will be addressed in Just Cause 3, which is due to come out in Q4 2015.

If you’re not familiar with the franchise, let’s just say it’s a mix of Grand Theft Auto, Saints Row, the Tropico economic simulator (through story, setting) and Far Cry. It offers the player the chance to create monumental explosions and levels of destruction, using cars, planes and helicopters to up the boom factor considerably compared to even the most action-packed competing (action sandbox) titles.

What we do know so far about the third installment is that it looks absolutely gorgeous in the trailers and screenshots, and this comes as no surprise as Avalanche (the studio behind the series) has always placed special emphasis on flashy yet high quality graphics.

Previous games lacked a bit of cohesion to bring all elements together. The games were fun but not consistently so, and the story and plot powering all of it was the exact opposite of imaginative; the dialogs were repetitive and cliché too, and the difficulty level varied greatly from mission to mission.

Scroll down for the trailers (the latest of which was just released today) as well as some older screenshots too.
