Land Rover confirmed that a new Heritage division will be launched at the Techno Classica show in Essen, Germany.

Land Rover Heritage will take care of all the models that are out of production for longer than a decade, offering factory parts for them, all made using the original tooling methods.

So far, the models covered are the original Range Rover, the Range Rover P38, the first two generations of the Discovery and of course the iconic Series I, II and III. The Heritage division will also provide replacement parts for the Defender for the next 15 years through Land Rover’s global sales network.

The new Heritage division is a part of the Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations that’s also responsible for Jaguar’s Heritage division and charged with developing and building everything special from exclusive sports cars to uber-luxurious Range Rovers.

John Edwards, Managing Director of Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations, said: “It is estimated that 70% of all Land Rovers manufactured since 1948 are still in existence so there is a large and very passionate owner base to support through Land Rover Heritage.”

Land Rover is keen to expand the Heritage business and will also launch the “Land Rover Heritage Drives” this summer, giving the opportunity to drive historic models from its own collection at a special testing facility in Warwickshire, UK.
