Cadillac’s official unveiling of its CT6 flagship sedan didn’t hold any surprises – it looked like we were expecting it both inside and out. What is interesting are the partly-revealed specs which announce that while it’s as big as a rival BMW 7-Series, it’s closer to a 5-Series in terms of weight.

It offers fairly small engines, that go as low as two-liter, and a bespoke twin-turbo V6 with 400 hp. That’s obviously the most enticing sounding unit, although what we really want to know is will it feel slow with the base turbo four-pot?

The all important interior looks decent and seems classy, although it is the exact opposite of flamboyant. Just at a glance, it’s nowhere near as special-feeling as that of the rival Mercedes S-Class; I think it’s actually even trumped by the Lexus LS or Jaguar XJ.

Even so, it’s distinctive, with the unique front light-DRL setup, and it promises to bring (back?) driver enjoyment to the large premium sedan sector.
