Usually we commend the Tesla Model S P85D for keeping up or edging out supercars that pack anywhere between 600 and 700 HP so that we might call it a fair race.

With this in mind, we’ve seen it hang with the Challenger Hellcat and lose out to a Ferrari F12 by half a second. But here we have it go up against what we might call today an ‘entry-level supercar’. Yes, we’re talking about the previous generation 525 HP Audi R8 V10 (which in this case is packing 570 HP).

We’ll assume there’s nothing for us to spoil since you can already imagine which of these two cars is going to win a 1/4 mile drag race.

The Tesla jumps out in front, as it usually does, and puts what looks to be at least 5 car lengths between itself and the Audi. Right before they cross the finish line, the R8 starts to pull closer (barely noticeable) but it’s far too late in the race.

The P85D proves yet again how hard it is to keep up with it off the line. And by hard we mean almost impossible. Even the mighty Hellcat needed drag radials in order to keep up, especially while launching.
