The Toyota Yaris is slowly evolving and catching up with the main class competitors. In its current version, it’s still deemed outdated, uninspiring and kind of dull, plus KBB spotted some totally not-Toyota-like quality/build issues in its review.

You really have to struggle to portray the Yaris in a positive light, when even the traditional Toyota trait of durability is questionable. And who still offers a four-speed autobox these days? That’s an insult to the prospective buyer’s intelligence. It’s like saying “here, have this cheap car; everything about it is cheap…”

Obviously, it’s not a bad-bad car, as it’s still a popular model worldwide, but one wonders if it’s really the badge that’s selling the car and not its actual qualities.

The latest Yaris is kind-of good looking and cutesy, but from the back it looks too much like a Peugeot and the front is nowhere near as fresh looking as that of a Mazda2, for instance, or even the almost futuristic Honda Fit/Jazz.

Would you have one of these over its modern day competitors? If so, do tell us what you find appealing about it.
