The latest generation of Ford’s beloved truck-series has been subjected to a severe diet in order to bring down the weight and make the F-150 a more efficient vehicle.

Ford dressed the F-150 in an aluminum body which trimmed the fat by 450 pounds (204kg) alone when compared to the previous one but this didn’t stop them from seeking other weight-saving solutions.

An additional 250 pounds (113kg) of saving were sourced from several components such as the bumpers, rear axle, transfer case and steering knuckles as well as the seats and the materials used on the dashboard. Take a further look on the infographic below.

Despite the weight loss, Ford claims best-in-class payload of 3.300 pounds for the F-150 5.0 V8 4×2 and best-in-class towing capability for the 3.5 V6 Ecoboost 4×2 version as well.
