Honda’s explosive Civic Type R is coming to North America with the Japanese firm saying it will be very close to the European model, which is a five-door hatch. And yes, the rest of the Civic hatchback range is heading our way as well.

Since the next-gen Civic will offer coupe and sedan body styles in North America, it’s only natural to ponder if Honda has any plans to drop its 2.0-liter turbocharged VTEC four-pot with more than 300-horses under the hood of those models too.

While we don’t have a definitive answer to that yet, we can give you a speculative take on what a Civic Coupe Type R could look like through these renders made for the Civicx forum by Wild Speed.

The study is based on the new Civic Concept shown in New York this month using the production Civic Type R hatchback’s aerodynamic and styling upgrades as a reference point.

What do you think about it?
