Chevrolet has announced that the all-new 2016 Cruze will debut on June 24 and will offer both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
In a press release about infotainment systems offered on 2016 models, Chevrolet has added two photos of the 2016 Cruze’s interior showcasing the Apple CarPlay system. It’s not a surprise, however, as the center console looks very similar with that of the China-spec Cruze unveiled last year.
The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze will be offered with a standard 7-inch MyLink Infotainment system which allows owners access to both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. An 8-inch version will be compatible only with Apple CarPlay at the beginning of the 2016 model year, but Android Auto compatibility may be available later in the 2016 model year.
Chevrolet says it will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility in more models than any automotive brand for the 2016 model year. The systems will be offered in 14 Chevrolet models, including the all-new 2016 Cruze and Spark.

Partnering with Apple and Google to offer CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility across the widest range of models in the industry is a great example of how Chevrolet continues to democratize technology that’s important to our customers,” said Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors.
According to the automaker, using either application in one of its compatible 2016 models is simple. When a phone is not connected the MyLink screen displays a “Projection” icon, which changes to indicate either CarPlay or Android Auto when a compatible phone is connected via USB.
Using Android Auto requires a phone running the Android Lollipop 5.0 operating system or above, while Apple CarPlay requires an iPhone 5 or later.
