Not much has changed to the Continental GT since its launch, back in 2003.

Sure, the second generation came with improved styling and a brand new V8 engine, but other than that, things remained the same. The W12 power output has basically remained the same on all models, except for getting a slight tweak on the regular GT (from 575PS/567hp to 590PS/582hp). Otherwise, business as usual, although we do like the design of the updated model more.

But it seems that the current Continental’s GT days are numbered. According to Auto Express magazine, there’s another Bentley on the way set to make its public appearance in 2017.

Of course, as it goes with these types of reports, the future Continental GT will be sleeker, lighter, prettier and more powerful. We won’t bet our lives on the first three features, but we kind of already know that the next-gen Continental GT will use the latest 600BHP 6.0-litre W12 engine.

Unlike the current model, which is based on the D1 Volkswagen Group platform, the future Continental GT will be based on a shortened, Porsche developed version of the MSB platform – as the new Panamera. That means we’ll get a Bentley fine-tuned by Porsche engineers? We’ll just have to wait and see.

From a visual standpoint, we do believe the future Continental GT will look an awful lot like the EXP10 Speed 6 concept, unveiled at Geneva this year. Not a bad look for a gentleman’s racer.
