If you guys need to go ‘like’ some GT-R fan page on Facebook or download a wallpaper for your PC, phone or tablet featuring the R34, we would understand completely.

This right here is what a legend looks like. This is the fifth generation Nissan GT-R R34, which was launched back in 1999 along with the V-Spec model, featuring the same 2.6 liter Twin Turbo power unit from the R33.

But unlike the R33, this newer model was much stiffer and considerably shorter and was the first GT-R to feature a 5.8″ LCD screen, providing the driver with relevant information regarding the engine and other parameters.

Now, if you were a teenager early in the last decade, you may know this car best from the Fast & Furious franchise, as the late Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner used to favor it in a couple of the early movies.

The one in these images resides in Japan and is sitting on a set of Gloss Silver HRE Classic 303 wheels, which look surprisingly well on it, despite the retro design. Must be because this is now basically a “retro” car.

This R34 is also lacking a rear wing which is what we’re used to seeing on these particular Skylines, and because of that, it doesn’t look as dynamic as it should. In other words, it has a much higher potential, visually speaking.

The Skyline GT-R R34 is a fan favorite for a lot of people, some even prefer it over the current generation. But let’s just call it a tie between the two.
