If there’s one thing everyone agreed about the pre-facelift BMW 1-Series it’s that the styling was not at all inspired. But that changed with the recent makeover and the 1-Series now looks a lot better.

One of the first reviews of the facelifted BMW 1-Series comes from Carbuyer’s Mat Watson, who declares himself satisfied with the car’s design upgrades.

Not much has changed inside, which means the rear seats are cramped, with knee room described as tight and the center rear seat compromised by the prominent center tunnel.

Watson also complains of poor rear visibility and expensive optional extras, but since this is a BMW the last part shouldn’t surprise anyone. The good thing about the 1-Series is that it remains a rear-wheel drive model, which makes it the most fun to drive car in the segment. As long as that’s all you want from your premium hatch, you should be able to forgive the refreshed 1-Series’ shortcomings.
