Some may have been surprised that the all-new upcoming Ford GT only had a V6 under its rear canopy. However, if you also look at the information accompanying the car, you start to see why they did it, the main reason cited being the shedding of weight.

CNET’s Brian Cooley talked about this philosophy of light weight with various people that oversaw the development of the car in a video posted below.

They look at the car (a sliver example this time) and analyze the way it was constructed and why using carbon fiber was hugely important – apparently, they could not have gone down the design route that they did had the material not been used.

The GT is shaping up to be a real screamer, and with a rumored 700 PS it should be more than a match for its main stated rival, the Lamborghini Aventador.
