As the “award season” is coming to an end, most recently it was league MVP Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors who thought better than to insist on keeping his well-earned prize.
Curry won MVP honors by averaging 23.8 PPG, 7.7 APG and 2.0 SPG during the regular season, and leading his team to the Western Conference Playoffs as a No.1 seed.
With that in mind, KIA donated a brand new Sorento LX (much like this one) to the East Oakland Youth Development Center, on behalf of Steph, who also received this year’s KIA Community Assist Award.
The Oakland Youth Center is known for helping young adults in developing their social and leadership skills, which is a great cause as far as we’re concerned.
Curry wasn’t the latest award recipient though, as the Chicago Bulls’ forward Jimmy Butler also got crowned as the NBA’s Most Improved Player for the 2014-2015 season. Butler received his own Sorento LX which will be obviously redirected to the charity of his choosing.
After this season concludes, KIA Motors will have donated a total of 38 new cars to charity since it started sponsoring the NBA back in 2008.
And yes, LeBron’s K900 ‘King James Edition’ counts too, as it’s currently being auctioned off to support the LeBron James Family Foundation.
