Lamborghini might be closer in green-lighting the production version of the Urus Concept according to the latest reports.

The Italian government is prepared to offer Lamborghini as much as 100 million euros ($111 million) in tax breaks and other benefits if the exotic car manufacturer executes its plans to hire as many as 300 people for a new Italian assembly facility for its SUV.

The Italian government offers these incentives as a mean to fight the unemployment rate with both sides reportedly scheduling a meeting again as soon as possible to reach an agreement according to Bloomberg.

The Urus concept debuted back in 2012, showing the supercar brand’s intentions but since then, Lamborghini and parent company Audi have put the whole project on ice. If the talks between the government and Lamborghini lead to an agreement, it’s almost certain that the Urus will share the same platform with the other SUVs of the Group, including the Bentley Bentayga and the next Porsche Cayenne.

The SUV demand is constantly rising on a global scale, with Lamborghini estimating that the Urus crossover could more than double their volume sales. If the project gets eventually the green light for production, it will join Aston Martin’s DBX in the upcoming exotic SUV segment. A final decision is expected to be taken next month.
