If you’re like Mazda and you think that driving is something more than what you’d find written in a dictionary, then you’ll certainly feel a connection with this campaign.

Come on Mazda! Why did you have to make that video so emotional? But we get it, seriously we do. Driving does matter and it’s something that influences us throughout our entire lives.

The ‘Driving Matters’ campaign is meant to get us to have an emotional connecting with Mazda, which may not always be the case, despite the fact that they really hit the nail on the head with this spot.

Russell Wager, Mazda VP for North America said that “Through the Driving Matters campaign, consumers will get a glimpse at why driving matters so much to Mazda and why we obsess over every detail in designing our cars. Whether it’s for safety purposes or for maintaining our ‘fun to drive’ nature, it all comes down to the fact that driving matters to our customers and it matters to us.”

The campaign will showcase different aspects of what makes driving a Mazda and driving in general so important for us. Eventually, they’ll take us through their advanced technologies and design, vehicle safety, aesthetics, fuel efficiency and what it means to take pleasure in driving.

This particular spot, called “A driver’s Life” is meant to take us through the major life moments of a driver, such as getting used to his first car, buying his first roadster, his first family car (Mazda6, CX-5 etc), raising a family and so on.

In the end, the so called “reward” car, which in this case is the brand new MX-5 is more of a symbol of continuity, the cyclical nature of life if you will. Past happy/important moments will always be something that people (not just drivers in general) tend to cherish their entire lives.

Mazda will be using in-cinema ads, tv, print, out-of home and digital media in order to get their message across.

We hope they do.
