McLaren North America and Pfaff Automotive Partners, the exclusive distributor for McLaren automobiles in Canada, announced pricing for the new Sports Series models, the 570S and 540C.

The most affordable McLaren yet, the 540C, will debut in Canada with a MSRP of C$196,500 ($160,680), while the more powerful 570S will start at C$219,750 ($179,700) in Canada.

Both vehicles share their DNA with models in the Super Series and Ultimate Series, including a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis and race-derived technologies.

Power comes from a mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, rated at 540PS (533hp) in the 540C and 570PS (562hp) in the 570S. Both models deliver power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed seamless shift gearbox (SSG) which sees the 0 to 100km/h (62mph) sprint completed in 3.5 seconds for the 540C and 3.2 seconds for the 570S.

The McLaren Sports Series features a newly-developed suspension system that uses front and rear anti-roll bars, Formula 1-style dual wishbones, and independent adaptive dampers. The difference between the two models resides in the damper tuning, which is more focused on day-to-day road driving in the 540C.

McLaren has started taking orders for the 540C and 570S in Canada, with first deliveries of the 570S expected in November 2015. As you probably know, McLaren has only confirmed the 570S for the United States, where it starts from $184,900.

As for the 540C, it appears that it won’t arrive in the US. “We are undecided at the moment. Essentially the car will be homologation for the U.S., but it is highly unlikely we will import it,” McLaren North America senior PR manager JP Canton told AutoGuide.
