Our latest spyshots of Smart’s next-generation ForTwo Cabriolet depict the two-seater model in showroom specification prior to its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.
With the exception of Smart’s logos on the front grille and tailgate, everything else is camouflage free giving us an early look at the production car.
The styling of the 2.69-meter long city car remains mostly unchanged from the coupe with the only difference being the cloth top (likely electrically operated and available in an assortment of colors) and the much smaller rear window. Just like its predecessors, the Cabrio retains its B-columns.
You won’t find any mechanical changes, with the Cabriolet borrowing the coupe’s engine range offering a rear-mounted 0.9-liter three-cylinder unit in naturally aspirated (71PS / 70hp) and turbocharged guises (90PS / 89hp), with the option of a five-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission. A Brabus model with a higher-performance three-cylinder unit is also in the making.
