As if you needed more proof that street racing and drifting is a dumb and hazardous idea, a Maserati driver in Poland lost control of his GranTurismo and smashed into parked cars.

The 32-year old Pole was sliding around a roundabout in the town of Kolo in central Poland on Wednesday night when the crash happened.

One of our Polish readers has the skinny on the incident:

“In the video, you can see the Maserati going sideways. After the driver managed to pass the roundabout, the action starts. Well, he pushed the throttle to the limits, made the car go sideways, but he didn’t manage to straighten it out quickly enough.”

“With the counter set on, he let go of the accelerator pedal and the car quickly changed direction. Surprisingly instead of trying to brake, he pushed the gas pedal as hard as he could, speeding up and as a result, smashed into another car. He literally did everything the worst he could!”

“The guys recording were laughing so hard and at the end said, ‘We got it on the tape, we’ve got it!’. Rear wheel drive and enormous power has embarrassed somebody’s ego, once again. This all happened at around 10 o’clock on Wednesday in the Koło city that is located between two bigger Polish cities – Poznań and Łódź. After this accident, his driving license was taken away.”

* Update: It seems that the name of our tipster, ‘Fiutoslaw Cipulski’, is pronounced in Polish with the tongue resting slightly on the cheek…
