The limited-edition Renault Clio RS 220 Trophy is now available for sale in France with a starting price of €28,900 ($32,800), including VAT.

Compared with the standard Clio RS, the new limited-edition model has a more powerful engine (20 extra horsepower, up to 40Nm more torque), a sportier chassis and refined EDC transmission. The Clio RS 220 Trophy is also available with a new body color, new 18-inch wheels, sports seats and carbon-look interior trim details.

The increase in power and torque is due to new engine mapping, a larger turbo, an intake system designed to minimize back pressure losses and a revised exhaust system to accommodate a Euro6 catalytic converter. As a result, the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder produces 220PS (217hp) and 260Nm (192lb-ft) of torque, although 280Nm (206lb-ft) is possible thanks to a torque boost function in fourth and fifth gears.

No performance figures have been released yet, but Renault did say the EDC transmission’s gear shifts are up to 30 percent faster, while the Trophy chassis is lower and stiffer than on the regular Clio RS. Combined fuel consumption is 5.9 l/100 km (47.9 mpg UK or 39.9 mpg US), corresponding to CO2 emissions of 135 g/km.

Standard features include embossed leather-trimmed steering wheel, heated leather sports seats with integral head rests and carbon-look air vent surrounds and door trims, satin-effect chrome finish for the gear lever base plate and air-vent inserts, among other things. The RS Monitor on-board telemetry system is available as an option.
